The Village of Riverside will host a Public Hearing at 6 p.m. on February 20, 2012 in Room 4 of the Township Hall, 27 Riverside Road, to discuss Municipal Electric Aggregation which allows municipal and county agencies to negotiate electric power supply arrangements for their residential and small business consumers.
I am definitely interested in listening to anything to save some bucks.

Today the House Dems offered a simple bill: All members of the House should disclose if they are taking Federal health Care. EVERY SINGLE REPUBLICAN voted to not disclose, even though they are trying to remove the healthcare coverage of millions of their fellow citizens. This crap is what we are all in for now.

Came across this website. It would be beneficial if we all have more info on what products (and services, ideally) are made in the USA.

http://www.choosemadeinusa.com/

and

http://www.facebook.com/Buyingbackourjobs

Corporations that shift jobs overseas are traitors to the USA, at least in spirit. I do not know how those in the corporations that make the decisions to shift USA jobs and displace USA jobs to overseas can live in the USA comfortably and without shame. How do they go to church? Do they make pantomime gestures about 'helping their fellow man' ; is this holiday time where helping your fellow man is accented especially painful for these folks? How can they look in the eyes those - including their family members - they did this to and which decisions ruined those lives ?

Is it some sort of Darwinian 'who lost my cheese?' crap that blinds them from what they did to their neighbors - even if their neighbors might not live across the street from them? Those neighbors are their fellow members of the community called US citizens and not some free-for-all, inchoate, undefined jungle. We're living in the same bathtub. If they muck up others in the same bathtub, it will yield ill consequences to them or to their kin eventually.

The business of mankind is mankind and it starts with your neighbor.

I just moved to Riverside and was out a few nights ago walking my little dog. I was surprised to see that at about 2:30 in the morning, a police car driving down my street (selborne) without its lights on and only going about 10 miles per hour. the policeman (I never got his name) stopped and asked me why I was walking around but then saw my dog and apologized. I asked him why he was driving around with no lights on and he told me that Riverside has had a string of garage robberies late at night and that they are out looking for those responsible. I asked him how many police cars were out on the street driving around like he was, and told him that I thought it would be 6 or 7 police cars for a town like Riverside. The policeman laughed and told me that it was him and one other police officer working that night. I was surprised and told him that the odds were not in his favor since there are so many garages in Riverside. He told me that his best guess was that there are about 2000 garages in Riverside, since there are about 9000 people. He also mentioned that with 3 State Highways having a part of Riverside (Harlem, Ogden and First Ave), that he spends a lot of time arresting drunk drivers which there are many of on those streets. Clearly, the odds of catching one of these garage criminals are not very good.

I want to say thank you to that policeman and all of the ones in Riverside. They do a good job and with the streets being so dark at night, it is pretty hard for police to see the bad guys. They do a good job keeping us safe so thank you.

The Landmark printed something called Turnaround needed at RBHS...I say "something", because it says based on Chris Robling's Oct. 13 remarks to the board. , which makes you think it was not actually a letter sent to the Landmark. ?

Anywhose, the information about the pending D208 financial problems are for sure needed to be brought to the forefront, as it is clear that we should expect referendums from both the village and D208 and if they don't pass things are going to become quite volatile.

That being said, since Chris frequents this forum I thought I'd post a curiosity I had about the amount of focus in the "letter" on the past...and in particular the conclusion:

Accountability would get a jump-start with town hall meetings on why the majority approved a contract that requires higher property taxes to fund 32 percent raises.

It makes sense to clearly know "where we are", but I guess I don't know what we expect to achieve from reviewing the past and assigning "accountability". It won't change where we are and it would seem to take away from focusing on "where do we go from here".

What's the thinking?

Tme to battle the Tea Party. Two seats left in the Avanti - bring your own Christian Brothers, it;s colder there.

Walker only needs to get one Dem senator back in the senate to have a quorum and win his vote. But if you look at it another way...

According to the 2010 Wisconsin Code Chapter 9 :

9.10(1)(a)
(a) The qualified electors of the state, of any county, city, village, or town, of any congressional, legislative, judicial, town sanitary, or school district, or of any prosecutorial unit may petition for the recall of any incumbent elective official by filing a petition with the same official or agency with whom nomination papers or declarations of candidacy for the office are filed demanding the recall of the officeholder.
9.10(1)(b)
(b) Except as provided in par. (c), a petition for recall of an officer shall be signed by electors equal to at least 25% of the vote cast for the office of governor at the last election within the same district or territory as that of the officeholder being recalled.
9.10(2)(s)
(s) No petition for recall of an officer may be offered for filing prior to the expiration of one year after commencement of the term of office for which the officer is elected.

The last paragraph explains why Scott Walker can't at this moment be recalled until January 2012. But According to Think Progress, eight of Scott Walker’s Republican allies in the state senate have served at least one year of their current term which makes them eligible for a recall petition right now. And Democrats will only need to win 3 out of these 8 seats to regain the majority in the senate.

There is more than one way to skin a cat. Walker is claiming a $137 million shortfall, but since his election he has goven tax cuts amounting to over $140 million to his backers.

This is the state that brought us the 40 hour week, the eight hour day, weekends, child labor laws, and so much more. They are not going to give up so easily... If the Tea Baggers from Virginia can flood in, so can Dems from Illinois. This is where the fight is today...
