This is not a case of residents resisting change. This CHANGE is only about
power and money. This is clearly a power grab orchestrated behind closed
doors so that the Village Board (RCA) can control the tax levy.

It is outrageous that Village Trustee Ben Sells, the Liaison to the Parks
and Rec Board was not privy to nor consulted about any changes to Parks and
Recreation Board. It is deceitful that President Gorman and Trustee Sacchi manipulated the the situation at hand to look as though this scheme is the grand plan of Village Manager Peter Scalera. Forcing the Village Manager to make a clarification on May 25 in the Landmark that he was not recommending these changes. This clearly is a concern of abuse of power.

http://www.rblandmark.com/main.asp?Search=1&ArticleID=6175&SectionID=1&SubSectionID=1&S=1

I am sick and tired of finger pointing. I tell the kids during lunch duty
'It doesn't matter who spilled the milk, I asked you to clean it up!' RCA
stop blaming the previous board! The RCA has an obligation to this Village to
represent the people. You may be listening but you absolutely not hearing.

I didn't see anyone at that meeting who looked as though they had been bullied into signing a petition. Matter of fact, I KEEP getting calls from people who were on vacation asking if they can still sign the petition.

Trustee Shevitz has shown he is quite adapt at power point presentations.
How come he has not whipped up a list of benefits this change will
represent to the Village or the so called efficiencies that will be gained?

This Village is two small for a two party system that is why we have a
causcus. The Block of Four has one voice and one brain. I have yet to see
an independent thought! Is that what really is best for our small Village?

The RCA ran on a platform of change. They asked people if they wanted a
Village Board who listens to residents and governs accordingly to vote for
them. I think the question we should all be asking is, does our Village
Board do more than listen? Do they actually hear? Do they actually represent the people they serve?

You know back in the old days snake-oil salesmen would come to town to sell elixir that they said would cure all ills. When they were found out , they were sent out of town on a rail. Towers needs to come clean on all of these questionable issues or the sttorney general will do it for him He is making a mess of this town and a mockery of the laws and government.

This is a result of the "throw the bums out" mentality -- where people will now elect anyone as long as they aren't a "career politician". Someone who has good ideas and a good talk, but once in the office has NO CLUE how to get anything done for their town. Running a household or a business doesn't give you much insight on how to deal with the issues that come up with running a town. And if you look like a know-nothing, all the other towns will win the contracts, the bids, the plum developments, and your town gets a bad reputation and is ignored. These people end up hiring their friends hoping that they can help them out, and they never do....

I would hope for Sauk Village's sake that there is someone currently in politics there at some level, who is honest and has observed how government works. I hope that SV doesn't get another person who knows nothing about politics, talks up about hope and throwing corrupt politicians out, gets elected, and finds that they are indeed over their heads. That's exactly what happened this time, but the voters always seem to forget...

I think 5 pgs. of comments in the Landmark about Monday's meeting says a lot. I am curious though, to anyone that supported or supports the Board members of the RCA Party, how do explain their actions at Monday's meeting? Several voices on this blog spoke very highly of the RCA four, maybe you can help explain, since the RCA Board members can't seem to bother?

The RCA is overwhelmed on the villages financial challenges. They don't know what to do. They did not know what to do even before the election. Psychology? Maybe if you consider the silent treatment a form of psychology. They ignored every persons thoughts, questions and failed to address the real issues. Sound familiar? They are up to their old tricks again and it doesn't end.

Another pointless power point form Mark D Shevitz. RCA are the victims and everyone is out to get them. And they wonder what they ever did to bring this all upon themselves.

I was not at the meeting and I have not yet succeeded in getting a handle on this issue, but reading these descriptions makes me wonder whether the RCA bloc is so overwhelmed by the Village's financial challenges that only by polarizing issues can they see their way forward. Maybe a kind of reverse psychology?

Wow, another flashback:

"So if you want a real change in the direction of the village – one for the better, with a Village Board who listens to residents and governs accordingly, we ask you to vote for Gorman, Reynolds, Sacchi and Shevitz – the Riverside Community Alliance."
