Did anyone find out what caused this electric outage today? Construction somewhere, demolition?

Saw three guys outside Arcade today, looking distinctly like salesman and prospective buyer. Too bad no train, could not stay and eavesdrop. Later, they were being shown 'downtown' Riverside.

Hope they didn't notice the power was out, again, south of tracks.

Addressing the problem of the Arcade is far more pressing than going ahead with the demolition and construction of the Burlington lot. Why don't we try and swap that property for the Arcade with the Bank? Or Northgate Court? Spring is coming and we need to get moving on this, it must not sit like it is through another winter. If he Village swapped for it and owned it, then perhaps we could get some company like Home Depot or Loews (or anybody) to sponsor a rehab - and perhaps some of our local contractors would offer services now and get stock in it. I mean, it has to be done this summer and it can't go too high in cost or it won't be rentable.

bumping this thread and, since the Arcade is one one of the first malls....

stumbled across this (deadmalls.com ; there is a neat-o trailer to a movie called Malls R Us at the link in the following post)

Are there any mechanic's liens on the property or unpaid subcontractors the GC could tell us about? And I take it the general contractor does not have them. Such subcontractors would perhaps take something until they get paid.

Ouch. What has Reynolds said so often 'If Riverside will be lost, it will be one piece at a time'? This windows debacle sort of illustrates this. Interesting that the Arcade, and the windows that probably walked off, are right across the street from Village Hall.

Bringing the Arcade discussion back to this thread.

Curious, unless something has changed (and I am paying attention...)
Regarding the original art glass windows on the front of the Arcade Bldg.

There were 4 of them.
Thankfully Grumpy was "in residence" throughout the process, so that glass is still in place.
The other 3 were removed.... of which one is at a glazer (Preservation Comm. knows where.) So the new owner can get that glass back, so long as he pays for it.
The other two were rumored to be in the salon space, or the basement, neither is true.
The windows most likely walked off the job site with an unpaid laborer, or a walkerby noticing an unsecure building with something that could be lifted.
Long story short, Half are gone.
