Catherine writes

They have boxed themselves in to the proposition that budget cuts equate with service cuts and that all village employees must be treated equally, so they have no plan to cut expenditures. Yet they also point out the deficit

.

But budget cuts DO equate with service cuts and employees SHOULD all be treated with fairness. And the RP DOES NOT have a predetermined solution which is numerically impossible. I'll take honesty any day. My name is not Virginia and there is no Santa Claus

Spatny: I tried what you suggested and it did not work. I believe you need to create a user name from scratch and get a confirming email before you can start using the site.

Obviously we Alex creating an ID and then an impostor. Sounds like the work Rahm.

Isn't this RCA intimidation/quid pro quo a violation of election law?

Didn't I read elsewhere that one of the RCA candidates is a political operative who should know better?

Are we to trust Catherine's interpretation of a meeting versus that of someone involved?

Where did Mr. Gallegos endorse 2 RCA candidates?

JamesMarsh - I am only answering you because I think I have an explanation and you seem hell-bent on some theory or other. Go to another computer and log on to the Forum as James Marsh (with a space) and see if it doesn't give you a while new identity. I'd go to the library and do it but I have to go to the airport and then I want to deliver more fliers. I think you will see that you are then two people with slightly different names. Computers are like dogs, they like things "always the same."

Catherine - that is exactly right. None of the RP candidates has, to my knowledge, offered a plan that answered your question, nor has any supporter, nor have they establshed why they think it is wrong to sudit the Village budget and open up the government more with info on line and more community participation at meetings, so it seems the campaign - from their side at least - boils down to some kind of soap opera.

I said my understanding is that Gorman and Gallegos met and talked. I would be surprised if independent candidates did not do so. I would not be surprised if members of the RCA have met with RP members. This is a small town. I myself have had emails with RP members and an invitation to talk. I said I was more interested in their getting out in public to talk, and that they should have a Town Hall like the RCA did, taking questions from all comers. This they flatly refused to do. I consider that more scandalous than what you are talking about here. Two candidates then scheduled meet and greets at a coffee shop.

Alexander's interpretation of his meeting does not comport with my own. That is all I will say about that. But since I have never heard him say nor imply he was looking to a tax increase for revenue or that he was for cracked overdevelopment schemes, I see no reason why he could not be RCA if he so chose. His endorsement of Messrs Reynolds and Saachi will no doubt carry a lot of weight with his supporters here, although I suspect he has none here and is just being used by RP Caucus supporters.

Again, RP Caucus needs to divert attention from the fact that they have no plan whatsoever for dealing with the budget. They will not admit their only thought for revenue is home rule and/or a real estate transfer tax that will further burden home sales. They have boxed themselves in to the proposition that budget cuts equate with service cuts and that all village employees must be treated equally, so they have no plan to cut expenditures. Yet they also point out the deficit. So, what is the plan. There is none. And that is the central issue of this campaign.

Spatny: Look at the posting history of each person. You will then see that they are not the same person.

Catherine already confirmed that the meeting between Gallegos and Gorman took place.

You seem to know Gorman pretty well - why would he make such an offer?

I think that the real Alex Gallegos did send that in. But that is purely surmise and not based on anything other than my gut feeling. I do not know enough about computers to say if the second one is from the same person or not - the only difference I see is no space between first and second names. That could be quick typing and/or a possible use of another computer. I do not know how accurate his statements are. For the rest, my opinion about this is above.

Truth, like beauty, lies in the eye of the beholder, it seems. I do not want to comment on this Gallegos thing because, a) I think it is a non-story, b) I don't have. like you, any personal knowledge of it nor have I talked to the people named, and c) If it is indeed Alex, the timing of this is obviously highly suspicious. As follows:

That meeting purportedly happened in January.

The Landmark interviews were in March. "Alex" says that Uphues asked him about the meeting. How did Uphues know about the meeting in order to ask "Alex" about it? He also asked Gorman about it. Evidntly whatever he heard from both sides was not enough to merit a story.

So, January meeting, March interviews/discussions with the Landmark about it, yet all of sudden this story comes out just a few days before the election. And who starts it?

Maybe, since you yourself know nothing about this first-hand, you should be suspicious about that timing... and that source.
