Chris the chamber has begun building a plan to promote shopping locally in Riverside. I brought up your idea of 3/50. Terry Tabor was proposing a reuseable tote bag for sale with business discount coupons as part of the tote's purchase price.

Austin’s ‘Buy Local’ ethos pays off:
http://bookpeopleblog.wordpress.com/2010/02/25/austins-buy-local-ethos-pays-off/

Austin’s unemployment rate is almost 3% better than the national average. Keep buying local, and supporting independent home-grown businesses, it actually works!

The 3/50 Project (3 local businesses, $50/month total):

The good news is, the kids have tons of leaves to rake into piles and play in.

Will we have any leaves left on the trees after the rains? The beauty was short-lived.

Coming home tonight I too noticed how pretty the maples look right now; there almost peaking!

Looking at the kaleidoscope of colors right now, they don't seem out of balance.

The ash, honey locust, sassafras, red and white oaks, and understory (ironwoods, serviceberries, chokeberries, spicebushes, etc) are all putting on quite a show!

The ginkos, birches and coffee trees look like they are just waiting for the next temp change to GOLD out...probably by the weekend.

Fall in Riverside is simply beautiful!

Gas prices are coming down. Hard to say it's nice to see gas for $2.50/gallon, but it's better than $3 or $4.

Good news, I think, I drove by the "been in-process for a while" town homes on Burlington this morning and was pleasantly surprised at their condition!

I'm not sure how recent the changes are, as I don't go that way very often, but the fencing is gone, the foundation sized holes are filled and the landscaping has been done. They look like they have made the moves needed to be able to be occupied!
