Question 18: Based on current shortfalls, to what degree are you willing to cut landscape maintenance, police, fire, building code enforcement, investment in public buildings, or recreation programs?

Apparently cutting consultants and lawyers is not an option, a major contributor to any current shortfall. There is also apparently no dead wood, no overpaid nonunion employees, no money blown on unnecessaries, all of which makes our government unique.

When will money wasted on these manipulations end? How much did we pay the National Research Center of Boulder CO for this? What kind of government suggests cutting police and fire before, say, its Finance Department?

This little gem is there for the purpose of validating the admin's programs. The wording of these questions leads to obvious responses. I have heard this little exercise in futility costs about $10K but don't know that for a fact. In all this posturing and the Board's "Charm Offensive" I never see any mention of the hundreds of thousands of dollars squandered on various other consultants and ineffectual zoning efforts. When you have proposals for items like a $50K bus and $30K plus software for the Rec department and at the same time are told the wolf is at the door, what should one think?
