There has been a lot of talk about the proposed TIF's effect on the schools. I would like to ,point out that it will also effect our wonderful library. Every year the library is asked to purchase more materials, add more public access computers and institute new programs. Like the Village, they feel the pressure and need for more money for staff and equiment, etc. And the TIF would cap their funds at current levels until some pie-in-the-sky time down the road when maybe something good will happen. Riverside's library is a treasure, the staff are wonderful and nobody should do anything to sequester funds from what has to be one of the across-the-board best-loved services this Village offers. NOBODY. Hands off the library's funds!

Don, the library isn't a separate taxing body. Their budget is folded into the village's.

Well anyway, they are concerned and we should support it. My neighbor in San Francisco, Charles McCabe, used to say: "Any clod can have the facts. It takes an independent thinker to have an opinion."
