I'll bring my flask.
Tryinmg to find a use for the Arcade building, I came upon this humorous book review in the WSJ.
The Murals are up! Surely a big improvement. Saw our Village President, Trustee Sacchi, Bob Finn, Aberdeen, lots of people helping. A big job and a huge difference. Hats off to all those who worked so hard to make this happen.... Lovely weather - stop by and walk around the "Old Lady" and see what you think....
It looks good. Having seen this, I am more convinced than ever that the best use for this property would be as a cornerstone for a Riverside Arts District, leveraging the arts businesses we already have. I know this is a tall order, and I don't know where the money would come from, but maybe there's a patron of the arts out there who would be interested in exploring this idea.
That was really a nice scene last night at the Arcade building. I was standing with my dog over in Guthrie Park and it looked great with the lights on it. Nice that so many people showed up. The performances at the Town Hall were also fun - I'd say just right for the holiday kick-off. Good job putting that all together. Thanks to all involved.
The Art students at RB should be applauded for a wonderful job well done! We just drove by the Arcade and enjoyed what we saw. Again...Kudos!
I just saw a big story on the Arcade art work (during the holiday stroll) in today's (Friday's) Chicago Tribune - front page in the West section. Kudos to the people who worked to expose this (this does not 'just' happen). This whole effort is a great example of good publicity for Riverside - and ironically , the good came from something negative, a building left for dead by a delinquent owner.

People in Riverside were upset when legal troubles interrupted renovations of a downtown shopping mall, leaving it vacant, boarded up and deteriorating.
After all, this was not your typical shopping center. The 138-year-old, three-story Victorian Gothic building is considered one of America's first indoor suburban shopping malls. And it sits in downtown Riverside, one of the nation's first planned communities, with ties to several of the nation's most prominent architects.

Right you are, Mike. This is absolutely first rate PR, and I shall use it as the centerpiece of my pitch to BNSF/Buffet. If anyone has a high quality color printer could you please download and make me three copies, maybe without the ads? I'll be happy to pay for it.
Obviously, someone (Aberdeen?) bothered to give them the correct story about what happened, which Fox totally missed. Well, that is what one would expect, isn't it?
Now, let's find an "angel."
I guess credit for gtting this article in the Trib is due to Dave "Grumpy" Moreau. A vote of thanks to him!
