I see the Arts Fair is coming up. What is the cost of this, and is it worth it?

I have heard complaints from more than one business owner in the CBD. It adversely affects their business by blocking off the street, and then the booths have their 'backs' turned to the businesses.

It was so much more pleasant when it was in Guthrie Park. Who wants to walk on concrete? Why was it moved?

I am glad to see no e on the end of Fair.

I like the idea of an Art Fair or even an event that would bring artists and photographers here to capture the beauty of Riverside and then disseminate that beauty to the rest of the world.

But the event happening this month does not seem to be getting much publicity. Is it being done by an outside company or volunteers from the Economic Development Commission?

It is not listed on the Illinois Arts Directory:

    http://www.illinois.gov/visiting/fair_festival.cfm

    http://www.caconline.org/IllinoisArtFairs.asp

And I did not see it in Chicago Magazine (although I may have missed it). Also, this website is popular for promoting upcoming events: www.eventful.com.

I think the Art Fair is a quality idea to get design oriented visitors in Riverside. They might come back and explore if we can show them a little more while they are here.

Excellent thoughts. When you google it, the first link is to Page Not Found. The second link works. You have to click on the event poster to get the most information. For example, the Olmsted Society is doing a walking tour. Sponsored by EDC, supported by Village it says. Perhaps you should advise EDC of these websites.

I think the fair would be much more attractive to all concerned if it were back in Guthrie Park. Is it too big for that now?
