EDIT: I did not see JohnM's link to this incident on another thread when I posted this topic. NOTE: this link is updated with real time status/news.

I feel that this is the 'trickle down' from that other thread about the economy (failure of epic proportions).

Yes, my husband and I were discussing some weeks ago how bank robberies will increase, a la the 30s. Precisely 24 hours ago, he was in that very bank.

It illustrates the trouble that hails here from Harlem, as these folks now could be in our town, and so the schools are on lockdown. My husband called to tell me not to ring anyone into the building. I had not heard anything until he called, and I live on Burlington.

Not that anything can be done about Harlem, save not making it worse. My elderly neighbor tells me that her parents remembered when it was a gravel road, in the 20s I think. Hard to imagine.

How rattling for the employees and customers. I am surprised a big bank like that with that location does not have an armed guard [ not that that would suffice perhaps.]

    Armed Bank Robbery Update

The investigation into the armed bank robbery that occurred at the Riverside branch of Bank of America at 3300 S. Harlem Avenue is still being investigated by the Riverside Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Three armed subjects entered the bank and took control of the bank. Two of the subjects were armed with chrome plated long barrel revolvers and one subject was armed with a black semi-automatic handgun.

Taken during the armed robbery was an undetermined amount of cash.

New information was received during the investigation that the offenders fled in a silver boxy type newer vehicle similar to a Chrysler 300 or Nissan Altima.

The robbery is still under investigation by the Riverside Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Seeing tactical teams in full uniform and equipment is an unusual sight in Riverside and would make anyone concerned. Thankfully this is not an everyday occurrence in Riverside the response was done to contain the armed offenders if they were in the bank and to protect the area around the bank and our schools.

If you have any information on this case or suspects you can contact Det. Sgt. Dave Krull at 447-2127 X284 or dkrull@riverside.il.us

Thank you for your continued support.
