It appears that Gorman won the LAC Kunka battle. Also noteworthy is that the Economic Development Commission has a few new faces. Tiffani Engstrom and Jason Leander.

Any idea who is leaving or who these folks are?

What battle? Perhaps an ill-disguised ploy. The village attorney was misinformed - at best. Four is always a majority out of seven. T John is the best man for that job, and I thank him for doing it. I shall always remember he was the guy that had the integrity to stand up to the former Village President when he showed up and tried to have substitute minutes adopted. He's the right man for that position. Good for him.

Don't know anything about those other people.

I don't know him other than in stories of urban legend. Wasn't Mr. Kunka somehow involved in petunia wars?

I saw Ms. Valas (sp?) is going to head EDC. She seems smart and realistic - deserves support. I predict that 2010 may be even tougher than 2009 for housing, etc., so I for one will certainly support her/their efforts. As does the new VM and the Board.

John Kunka knows his stuff. There is no question he belongs at the head of the LAC.

    Catherine -

    When you say

John Kunka knows his stuff. There is no question he belongs at the head of the LAC.
What do you mean? What is his background? What are his qualifications?

I never asked him for his resume. Comparisons are odious. Suffice it to say I have heard the old and new head hold forth on the topic.

I hope some of the commissioners who left will come back, and vice versa. That is all. Not going to go further into this.

Catherine - If we were in Illinois, it might look like someone is looking to have you keep your opinions to yourself ;-)

Oh, wait - we are in Illinois.

Anyone know what the "Foreign Fire Tax Board" is? The Meeting is Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at 8:30 p.m. in the Youth Center Training Facility. According to the agenda, they will review proposals for fitness equipment purchase and approve a quote to purchase fitness equipment?

I assume this is the building behind the Police Department which I didn't know was called the Youth Center Training Facility. I wish they would take the lead out of the walls and convert it to a Training Center/Youth Center! We really need a place for out teens. Whole different topic.

It would be worth going to the meeting just to see what the building looks like inside.

It's a mess. That was built back in the fifties when I was in RBHS, and we used to have dances there, etc. Now it looks like a slum building with the blue curtains blowing out the windows on the river side. It should have been redone many years ago - now it's a black hole to throw money in - it got an $18K boiler a few years back and I think the roof is bad, or was bad. I think they like it like this because the fire and police have a place to throw heir surplus gear, "train" and other stuff, and some park in the basement garage - I've even seen them washing their own cars there. Now there is a big motorhome wedged in next to it - maybe we have campers in Riverside?
