Timmy, reread my second post. Lard != benefits for employees with degrees.
By the way according to sahm you would need a question mark after your first sentence.

Cool, where do I apply for the government program that rewards graduate degrees?
Did you get that degree at Whats a Matta U?
You can apply for the program only in the town smart enough to realize that subsidizing intelligence means lard in the budget.
lol
Yep, you hit the nail on the head. Budget cuts are tough.
Good to see our local government is making an effort...nobody said it would be easy.
Blogs have never been the place to locate excellent grammar, punctuation, spelling, etc.
The problem with an A in Olmsted is that it denotes that the poster has a general lack of understanding about him in general, and thus following why Riverside is so special today.
If one is short on knowledge regarding Olmsted, one should visit the “Olmsted Collection— at the Riverside Public Library, donated by the Olmsted Society (and newly relocated on the main floor in the southwest corner, lovely job done by the library!) This collection is one of the most exhaustive collections of rare books, microfiche, and magazines on Olmsted and Landscape Architecture in the country.
Regarding the villages budget crisis, things are not so bad here yet. Thankfully we are only cutting bonuses, compared to those "destination center" cuts.
Proposed county budget cuts hundreds of jobs
October 17, 2007
By Paige Winfield Staff Writer
If DuPage County tightened its belt during this year's budget squeeze, cuts coming up next year will equate to some major weight loss.
County Board Chairman Bob Schillerstrom of Naperville unveiled on Tuesday a 2008 budget that slashes the county's corporate budget by $10 million and calls for 235 employees to be laid off—¦.

This is the government's job. What DID people ever do with themselves before there was a Rec Department?!
No one gets a degree or another degree for a 2% annual bonus. In a fiscal crunch, nonunion employees take hits in services to themselves before looking to a cut in services to clients, just as in the private sector. If they don't like their jobs, their remedy is at hand.
It appears precious little cutting went on, in the event. How much is in the budget for consultants and lawyers, come to think of it?

Discourse is fine, personal attacks are not.
So who are the whiners? I learned about synergy from Bucky Fuller,. I think he coined the word. This sounds like a stretch. Personally, I think this rap sounds more familiar as it goes along. I wonder why people don't put their name out there along with their thoughts. Hmmmmmm! Let's caucus.
Admin- Im followin' the rules, and I aint gonna let the man get down on me for following the rules....man.
Spatny- Ive explained the whiners already, and its not necessary for you to see my name, all you need to know is that I know Riverside, and that I'm not alone in what I think.
KimJ- I do lack general knowledge about Olmstead, but that doesn't nullify my argument.
How would you like, Catherine, to have $600-$2000 of your hard earned dollars to be taken away from you and for that to be called lard? Keep this in mind while examining the things the village has bought in the past, sans consultants. What about those, in my opinion, useless tower-things that were erected at the 1st ave & Ridgewood intersection? Did we really NEED those? Did that make the quality of living better in the town? Im sure it didnt make it any better when the signs themselves were stolen. Thats lard, my friend, awarding hard work, on the other hand, isnt.
I agree those posts are ugly and a waste of money. I suppose that was the beginning government's effort to draw people in to Riverside.
Everyone in the private sector, as I have said here before, has had their benefits, bosses, departments, some of us even their own positions cut in corporate America. That does not mean that the people are not valuable. It means they are being cut because what is coming in does not equate well with what is going out. So to answer your question, I do know what it feels like, and that is called reality.
