When the village selected Critter Detectives, I thought I recalled something like "in exchange for endorsing them, the village gets free animal removal."

Apparently, I remembered incorrectly. Here's the source:

Disclaimer: In exchange for this posting, Critter Detectives has agreed to provide the Village with free trapping and removal of certain live animals and removal of all deceased animals from land.

** Please note that residents and business owners are free to choose from any of the pest control service providers in the area. Additionally, Critter Detectives is an independently owned and operated business. The Village of Riverside does not make any representations, guarantees or warranties as to the services provided by Critter Detectives.

    Emphasis mine.

So I guess certain does not include coyotes. According to The Landmark, we spent $1465 on the traps and now the village is changing tactics because it was getting expensive.

    I wonder what's next?

My dog treed a Mom raccoon and her 3 kits last night who were on their way to/from a garbage feast. Can I get a check in exchange for using a picture of my dog on the Village web site, which incidentally, still has those four dumb pictures they have told me for years now they would exchange for something better? If you want to hear something great, there is a small amount of standing water in the Royal Hunting Grounds (formerly known as the Swan Pond) where the toads are singing their heads off every night. When you approach be very quiet or they will all stop at once for a moment or two. Pretty neat.

  3. My teenage daughter claims that our neighborhood coyote must be gone because the number of stray cat sightings has spiked. I think she's onto something.
