D 96 - Dollars and Sense...

Actually, Don, the correct figure for Riverside in 2008-2009 was $268,000!!!

Also, don't forget the $500 monthly transportation allowance in his new contract--that's an extra $6K per year.

D96 is also spending nearly $25K per year in rent for administrative offices at Mater Christi in North Riverside. That's the part of NR that is not even in D96! Couldn't they have found something in Riverside or NR east of 1st Avenue (assuming that this extra space was really, truly, necessary)? Add that to the cost for the one child, one computer program and the increase in other administrators' salaries referenced above by Flight, and what I see is a district with no sense of fiscal responsibility.

Why don't they rent space in the Arcade for 25K a year.

Can Lamberson and the principal of Central School be fired?

When the tax spigot remains closed, the children will pay for all this.

    Catherine,

Lamberson's new contract is on the Landmark web site. Briefly, he can be fired for cause or the contract can be cancelled for moral turpitude or a felony conviction.

Does anyone get notices of the Dist 96 Meetings? I just looked on the Dist 96 website and there are no meetings scheduled. It would be helpful if meeting notices/reminders were sent via e-mail in the same way the village meeting notices are sent. If anyone here knows a meeting is coming up would you please post a reminder?

I have not heard the other side of the story - have any of the board members given reasons for their actions in this matter. The vote was unanimous, was there a discussion?

While this forum is a great tool for discussion - I urge you all to send your comments to the School Board.

John and anyone else who wants to change things ---
I have been told that the school board really needs to hear things directly and not just through conversations and the newspaper. If there is something 'out there' and it is not addressed specifically to the Board (not the administration), then it's as if they don't know - even if individually they clearly got the message. So I would suggest forwarding on your letter - or your concerns - directly to the board...then they have it officially. Does that make sense? The rationale was explained to me and I didn't catch all of the details, but the big idea was to make sure to send everything to the Board itself.

My New Year's Resolution (yes, I know it's July) is to be more proactive about bringing up my concerns and not assume that they already know. Because even if individual board members do know, the board as an entity needs to hear our voices.

Tom Jacobs advises in another thread that the next D96 meeting is at Hauser on August 18, and that D96 has a cumulative surplus of $9million. That, while the village goes begging for half a mil.

Beth - I have a feeling they will hear about it on Wednesday night. First thing they should do is see howt hey can alter/rescind the Supe's contract, and then drop the plans to destroy the front of Hauser that these architects are selling to the building committee.
