James - according to the GoF, yes it has immediate effect.

Meaghan - Not sure who they are...conspicuously absent through all this. My thought is they don't have internet access at the Scottish Home.

The supporters are waiting for the PowerPoint to tell them what to say here.

Was has been done can be undone. Remeber that when these puffed up popinjays bring out their slate of candidates next April. No matter how they spin it, they have thumbed their collective noses at the people of Riverside. The last thing we need is a BOT totally populated by these lock step robots.

The RCA told us they would vote as a bloc to affect their agenda, they just keep secret the finer points of the plan. We now know the tip of the agenda iceberg. If the RCA had truthfully answered questions posed to them during debates would people have voted for them? Maybe, maybe not. Particular issues come and go, should be raised, debated and voted on. I find it repugnant that the RCA never had any interest in representing any viewpoint except their own. They have no interest in seeking public input; they were not forthright in their campaign and are not forthright now.

I personally find this dictatorship disturbing.

As for the process of dissolving the Rec Board, again the plan was hatched under the cover of darkness and jammed down our throats. If the residents really want to dissolve the Rec Board, then so be it, but tell us all the facts and consequences of the action and listen when we speak. Since the Rec Board was created by referendum, why not dissolve it the same way?

The RCA has marginalized our three senior trustees to the point that I imagine it is difficult for them to even show up at the Board Meetings. The RCA could care less about their years of experience in municipal government. One of the telling moments of the Village Board meeting was when Jean Sussman pointed out the new ordinance was flawed. All four of the RCA members, including the President, sat silent; not having the experience to properly write an ordinance. Jean and Ben Sells rewrote the ordinance dissolving the Rec Board. Ben and Jean at least had the dignity to make sure that the new ordinance, one that neither one voted for or believe in, was properly crafted.

What a sad time for Riverside.
