I just got off the phone with the secretary for District 96. Their TIF meeting has been rescheduled from this Thursday to Monday, April 30th at 7 p.m. as one of the major participants couldn't make it.

I learned that the format for the evening will include presentations by the Finance Committee of the Board of Ed and "representatives" of the Village of Riverside. The secretary advised me that the public will be allowed to ask questions at this meeting.

The meeting will be held AFTER the referendum?

The last thing the public understood about the TIF impact to the schools was a statement at the last workshop where it was said that we are still waiting for details on the impact - waiting for the models to review.

April 17 is around SIX MONTHS beyond when the TIF plan was first publicly unveiled. SIX MONTHS later and we do not have hard model data to review.

When casting your YES or NO on the Shall Riverside establish a TIF on April 17, will you say YES, I TRUST this administration with a 23 year TIF, or NO, This is no way to run a TIF, it is too risky for the Village?

Bob Uphues just told me that Jon Lamberson told him Phil McKenna had to have emergency heart surgery. Can no one else appear for this company?

Does Mr. McKenna have something new to add to this discussion? He was not prepared to answer questions about the TIF impact on our schools during the Workshops.

Provided Mr. McKenna and his consulting firm has new information regarding the impact to our schools since the Workshops, maybe the Village should just post Kane/McKenna's findings regarding our schools on the Village website. Then we can simply review their findings. Since Mr. McKenna doesn't live here, or have children in District 96, it shouldn't be necessary for him to be present for a meeting about our schools. We could review his firm's findings and make an informed decision for ourselves.

I have heard no updates on this issue. I sent an email to Lamberson and the board last week, and no one has gotten back to me.

Is there a Dist. 96 meeting on Monday night about the TIF?

Kim - call Nick Cariello and talk to him. He told me that at the last Dist. 96 meeting where he spoke and asked about the effect of the TIF they said it wasn't necessary to come out against it now because "it was moot." They obviously are unaware that the Board is going to pass a resolution to pay more to McKenna and proceed. People need to call all the Board memebers they know - at Dist 96, 206 and Triton and urge them strongly to come out against this - as it will hurt them. People need to know that the Board is talking about circumventing the clearly expresses will of the voters. I shall go to see Jack Baldermann on Monday. Now is the time to make as many people as possible aware of the Board's maneuvers.

At the end of the meeting on April 23, Katie Rush said, "I don't know what this does to the meeting on the 30th with the School Board." This was said after the consensus was taken that there would be no up or down vote on the TIF on May 7 and therefore no JRB convened. So, I assumed from that comment that there always was a meeting with the school board planned.

I thought I heard Ms Rush say at the 4-23 meeting that the rescheduling of the school meeting will depend on the feedback of the 4-23 meeting. It was hard to hear. Any other people see it on the tele or who were there? Anyone care? If they were looking for loud feedback after they threw out the trial balloon of wanting to go to he JRB step (implied is the vote to turn on the TIF process), I think they did not get it.

I agree, everyone on the street comes up to me and says 'congratulations' (the war is over). This is why it is hard to believe what spatny said above that the board is intending to ask for more money to give to Mckenna.

    McKenna is TIF

People said they do not want TIF.

The work right now is to try to sit down and really figure out what the people want, and how to get it in a manner that the people want.

All we know it is not the way that has been proposed thus far, TOD funded by a TIF, or at least the priorities stated by the TOD.

Now let's start working, and not continue to give more money to a TIF consultant.

If I had no money in my household, the first thing to do is a moratorium on all but the essentials.

They are going to pass a resolution for up to $30K for McKenna to bring the reduced TIF map up to speeed, cull the numbers, etc. and so that poor Katy can call him again and bat the breeze. Theis senseless waste has got to stop.

spatny, did you mean, 'I think, or I fear that they are going to pass a resolution up to $30k for Mckenna...'?
