Wow! Quit an article in the Landmark. Mr. Buttimer, now you know that it was not a former village trustee, but our own esteemed (in his mind only) village president. Now what will the citizens do? The environment at the village offices, village commissions, and at board meetings has not been good since this group was elected. Wonder what else the Landmark has in their files. FOIA requests should be filed with the village to see what else is available for the public to view and discuss. Village trustees should be questioned; village attorneys should be questioned. One has to wonder why so many village department heads are gone since this group took office: fire chief; two public works directors; assistant fire chiefs; now the finance director. All good people, and now they are elsewhere serving in village governments. Why? All things to ponder as we approach 2013. Are we better off today with all the negativity or would we better with a village board who can work effectively to serve citizens without creating a mean spirited environment

Nice work, Riverside Landmark. And you, Cathy Haley for having the courage to stand up for yourself! I deal with the same kind (actually worse) of garbage at my job but haven't had the guts to speak up the way you did, and with so much dignity and grace! I have nothing but respect for you!
I've never posted here before, but the fact that our village president behaved in that manner infuriates me. The behavior of others on the board also has been appalling and embarrassing, especially in regard to the park board and the RB referendum. There has been an overall lack of respect shown by this new administration and with that I suppose this revelation about Gorman should not be surprising. You don't have to agree on every issue, just show RESPECT.

This makes two incidents this year involving Gorman and questionable behavior and clear lack of judgement! TWO that is T-W-O! I almost feel sorry for the rest of the Red Team! How will Shevitz ever be able to spin this one? Never thought I would say poor Lonnie and Mr. Reynolds their names will forever be tangled with our Village President's.
I say, Mr. Gorman if you want to save face for your family and our Village you should resign now! Please!

If you cant handle the job then quit. I am so sick of people complaining about their jobs. You work for the village it is your job to deal with people.
I love it that you guys are telling Gorman to quit I think maybe YOU should quit!
This board is great I cant wait to see the crap I get from all you tree huggers and cheap ass people bitching about your taxes. Again, if you cant afford them move its that simple people.Posted Saturday Nov 12, 2011 23:46 # -
Harsh, DOOMTARD, harsh.
If the housing situation were different there would be so many for sale signs up in the yard, it would make your head spin. Mine included. And wouldn't THAT bring down house values here. So yeah, if that makes me a cheap ass, so be it.
What's wrong with people treating others with respect? Is it so wrong to think that the village president could be respectful of the people who work here and live here? I've complained to my spouse that the people who work in the village should be a little nicer, but perhaps those women had just had an encounter with Gorman. It will make me more mindful of what they may be dealing with day after day.
Bitching about our taxes? You bet. Bitching that Jon Lamberson last year made $318,000 plus a car allowance and benefits? You bet. Bitching that last year the principal of our little Blythe Park School made $133,000? What is the enrollment there? Is it over 200 five to eleven years olds yet? It's ridiculous. Oh, let's add the two Hauser gym teachers who made six figures. To "teach" physical education. Do they even grade papers? Well, I know that one did, but she retired this year. Note I'm not even mentioning D208. Did you happen to look at their "new and improved" website? To their credit, they do list their salaries and benefits, including the pension payments for the administration. If what we pay the principals and gym teachers at D96 doesn't make you sick, then the salary info for D208 surely will.
I'm not sure that anyone who bitches about the high taxes in Riverside isn't justified in doing so. It will only get worse when Edward Don leaves next summer. Maybe I am a cheap ass. We need more cheap asses around town.
