I noted the following from the 12/5/05 Executive Session minutes:

    II. Real Estate
    1. Pine Avenue Purchase
President Wiaduck introduced the item stating this regards the house immediately adjacent to the parking lot on Pine; the appraisal of the property is included in the packet. The owner is testing the water to see if the Village would be interested in purchasing this property. President Wiaduck noted that it is not critical to act immediately. This is one of the areas where we could expand the parking in the CBD. The Board expressed interest in having additional conversations with the owner.

    so they posted an appraisal?
why don't you guys share the amount?
lets see what "FARE" amount of money the village's appraiser would come up with for a 4/5 bedroom home in downtown Riverside.
how much corbi, mike, do you figure you would need in a sale in order to afford to stay in town?
that IS the point people, you will not be able to afford to stay in the village when the village knocks on your door!
keep fighting people, get your homes OUT of the TIF district!

KimJ - nice attempt at distraction. What makes you think I have access to anything other than the above? I will admit that my antennae has been up since the previous discussion of appraisals in a previous thread.

I think the Executive Session minutes helps me understand why there is at least one home eligible for displacement. If a homeowner initiated a process by approaching the Village about selling his home and that home was later included in a draft TIF boundary eligible for displacement costs, I think that could be viewed as the Village giving the homeowner what they want. They have to pay for it somehow.

There were about 10 addresses originally slated for "redevelopment." Does the Village have appraisals for the rest as well?

I am happy to pursue this line and request more information of the Village on the noted appraisal, the circumstances under which it was pursued, and how many other properties were appraised. Shall we do this together or will we be criticized for invading someone's privacy?

I already know the answer. Whether you choose to share the information you discover and invade someones privacy is your issue. I think it sure would be an eye opener for you though, Mike.

Well Mike's safe, because the EDC is against ED. Not to worry Mike, your pals are looking out for you.

I would like to know why the Village Elders are so convinced that Pine is the place to have parking. Is the infamous "west tunnel" still kicking? Are we taking pity on poor Mr. Kafka who is being picked on by the AG, and want to help make his apts more valuable? Maybe we are having something else new since i saw almost $900k in the Bond issue wish list numbers for "Train Station Improvements." Maybe that's where the casino is going.

The EDC will have no interest in sharing this information even if they did have it because it is almost criminal and they would lose the little support they actually have (if there is any outside of their committee.) No one would trust the TIF if they knew the truth.

    Kim,

I don't know what you are talking about. The EDC plays no role in any of this. I wasn't even sure we were talking about Mike's house but I assume that this is the case based on subsequent posts.

The most relevant part in all of this is not the appraisal or the appraisal amount but rather the section of the minutes which states "The owner is testing the water to see if the Village would be interested in purchasing this property". I take this to mean that Mike initiated these discussions. This only reaffirms what I strongly believe and that is that no single family owner will have to sell their house unless they want to.
