It would seem that our Board of Trustees would welcome the chance to engage some experts in the process of proper visioning and planning for our CBD with respect to Olmsted's plan. The National Association of Olmsted Parks has offered to help in this process and in a letter to President Wiaduck has so stated. Here is an offer that is hanging on the branch ready to be plucked off and digested. Will our Board reach up to take it?
What about all the wonderful architects that live in our town...has anyone asked their opinion? We have a talent pool here in Riverside that, I would venture to say, is second to none in this area...why aren't we tapping it?
The process in place seems to me exclusionary rather than inclusive. Perhaps the board should actively engage residents outside of the formal meetings we have recently seen to do some brainstorming and thinking outside the proverbial box. I guess the question is does our board have the inclination and will to step outside of their comfort zone and take the necessary steps without using paid consultants that produce predictable results? Time will tell!
