mr, the comments about Representative Boehner stayed because he's a public official, subject to scrutiny, and additionally I didn't read it as calling him names specifically. I suppose that could have been edited out as well, but I left it since it was addressing a public official. Getting back to the subject of the thread would be good. The flooding was studied at least to the cost benefit analysis stage in the 90s. A grant was proposed by FEMA. The options of buyouts for affected properties and extension of the berm south to the West Ave properties were nixed by residents. The financial magnitude of the required financial contributions was also approximated. Before we get too far down the planning road and spend time, effort, and money it might be useful to find those old documents. They may shed light on:
-What were the approximate costs involved
-Who opposed buyouts or granting of easements in the past
-What are environmental/permitting considerations for structural solutionsI think it may be premature for anyone to start taking credit for solving the problem.
