I just went to the RB website and read that the deadline to apply for this position was April 23.

What is the RB Parents Committee? Is this the same as the RB Patron's Council? Who is in charge? Sorry if they are dumb questions but I don't have any kids at RB until next year and I might be interested in joining the group.

The RB Parent Committee has been around a couple of years and seems to be a group of parents who support the school. I read about a meeting in the Landmark last summer and attended their workshop at the North Riverside Public Library where they discussed positive ways to improve communication, transparency and the athletic administration. The superintendent and school board president attended and the police chief attended a previous meeting on safety. I thought last summer’s meeting was productive. As I understand the affiliation with RB is that their kids attend, but the meetings are open to all and I just got an invitation emailed by the RB Patrons Council.

The Patrons Council? that's interesting because i called Dr. Bonnette's office and he was adamant that the school was not affiliated with this group. He did suggest that this group might be part of the RB Parent Group that was created a couple of years but again very specific in that the group had no affiliation with the high school. I will have to call Dr. Bonnette to clarify. I will be new to the high school and want to make sure i have all the proper information. Did the school administration request for input regarding the new a.d.?

Hi Rita, no one called me looking for my opinion but the board and admin seem open to community input. From Dr Bonnette hosting Friday coffee to the board listening at meetings. I don't think that the lack of direct sponsorship by RB means supportive RB parents can't share ideas do you?

Maybe an independently moderated forum, apart from RB, can be a start to healing the community. I thought the way RB handled the hiring of the new principal was open and refreshing, but that's just one opinion.

I thought I was going to be attending and joining an RBHS committee but it’s not. I don’t like walking blindly into anything so I guess my concern is who is in charge of the committee and who will be hosting the open mic forum. Can you give me some background on the committee and what their purpose is? Thanks for you help.

If I understand correctly the group is not associated with Riverside Brookfield HS. It's just parents that formed a group. What's confusing is the Riverside Brookfield because we have other towns that go to RB. Since I'm not from either of those towns I think a name change might help get others involved so everyone feels welcome. Since no one has answered my original question, I'll ask again. Who is in charge? Who are the contacts and who do we submit written comments to? Although this is an interesting topic are there any plans for other discussion coming up?
