I started a new topic since a new one came up today. A post from Eric Sundstrom is below.

What does everybody think of it?

Misrepresenting. Thats the word that came to my mind when I heard about Mr Shevits joining the caucus after already having set up the RCA. . By the way Catherine unknown to me, this bit of info about Alex's conversation this past January with Mr Gorman must have been floating out their because Mr Uphues from the Landmark called Mr Gallegos and asked esentially the same question(s) I asked. To set your fears to rest I spoke to Alex again today and wrotedown what he said down verbatim. Alex stated this to me ." I was contacted by Mr Gorman on Jan 8th where he requested that we meet. On Jan 9th we met at PJ Klems. In conversation Mr Gorman requested that I withdraw from the race.Mr gorman said my running hurt the RCA's chances of a sweep of the coming election. He intimated that the caucus would cause me trouble even to spreading rumors about me and it was in my best interest to withdraw.Mr Gorman told me that with me not running the RCA was going to win.He said there was a rumor out that John Scully would resign as trustee if the RCA swept the election. In this event Mr Gorman said if I dropped out of the race and joined the RCA and the RCA won, he as president of the board, would appoint me to fill the vacant trustee position. I declined his offer." By the way Mike started this all up and I would not have had my interest piqued had he put out his cryptic message. This is not playing Telephone or Gossip.I am reporting what Mr Gallegos said.

I wonder why Uphues did not print this story. Perhaps because it is libelous? The version I have is that no such offer was made.

I had no idea, by the way, of what Sundstrom was talking about, just that he was at it again. Well, it would have been awfully handy if Alexander had not been running! He is splitting the independent, anti-Caucus vote to a certain extent. I certainly know the Caucus would have preferred the RCA did not run. The 4 RCA candidates would not have bothered to run if they thought they could not all win as this story has it. This is someone's version of Gallegos' version of what Gorman said.

I also heard the rumor about Mr Scully resigning if RCA won. Last year I heard a rumor that he wanted his daughter to take his seat. And this was before any election issue. I also heard that Judy Barr Topinka advanced Alexander. Who knows if any of this stuff is true?

Alexander I hear also sent Mr Gorman a note of apology during one of the debates. I think he was embarrassed by the RP Caucus candidates. I also know the RP doesn't need to worry about winning the majority as by their own word they are planning more of the same.

I will repeat that I would also have voted for Alexander if there were an extra seat available. I don't agree with most of his ideas but I liked his independent thinking, fresh ideas, and ability to campaign without demonizing his opponents. Now I have doubts.

Would you like to hear my Little League story? Would you like to hear about my experience with the former Century 21?

Do you know there are people in this town who are actually afraid to criticize the establishment and government because they fear retaliation? Does that surprise you? It shouldn't when you consider what you are sinking to now.

These are serious allegations - Gorman had no right to discourage a candidate for his own gain. I have been sceptical of this group for many reasons, this seals the deal for me. Talk about backdoor dealing. Mr. Gorman had no right to intice Alex to drop out. I give Alex credit for saying no. Gorman need only to read the news to know that this type of behavior is reprehensible.

I was all for an independent set of candidates, but this is the last straw for me. Mr. Shevitz RCA approach seems to reek of Cook County politics and it seems to keep getting worse. Totally inappropriate for a small historic community. Alex gets my vote for standing up to this RCA nonsense.

THese are allegations; stories, made up things; unsubstantiated gossip; hearsay; they do not have a reliable status on which to make a judgement. commonsense, jamesmarsh, and that other person, changeagent, are acting like they are objective and well accepted facts. James said earlier in another thread that this is fun. What creature likes to play in mud?

We got an election of great import going on.

Let's please try to soberly look at what we 've done in the past and where the ship of Riverside might go in the future.

As I look at that big thread title, that is actually based on nothing, but someone looking on casually might think it is real, I'm a bit tempted to add some threads simply repeating some of the allegations and stories I have HEARD about the Caucus candidates.

What is your version? Did you get it from Gallegos?

Therefore you are (1) a real person, (2) a real person hiding behind an alias, and now (3) a real person hiding behind an alias posing as yet another person. A nice bunch of fellas you are, ChangeAgent. Gives your little eleventh-hour scheme a lot of credibility...

My account is from the RCA itself. They met and talked, no such offer was made. This is slander and libel.

Save your phony talk of 'last straws'. You are RP Caucus supporters who will obviously stoop to anything to keep running this town. People like you make this town seem no better than Cicero back in the day. You are disgusting.
