Hauser entrance - what's up?

I noticed that the main entrance of Hauser is all busted up (6-15-10). Can someone tell us what is going on - what is the reason for the work? I know that a memorial to the late Mr Mathis was also taken down in the work. I assume that it was just part of the work and will be restored.

I recall from these pages work on the old entrance - the pillars , and the landscaping project that started then stopped. So what is this entrance work?

The auditorium roof replacement was announced last week:

    ...but that's not this project.

I think it's "Hauser: Redevelopment of front yard." here:

I think the landscape plan was published earlier. Initially it was rejected by many, and went before the village board as well, then I believe it was revised and accepted. I think that's what this is. Looks like a big project.

thanks, chris, for the links. I guess I missed the d 96 board meeting during the ides of march when they discussed this. "If it's not in the Forum it didnt happen" with apologies to the NY Times.

I am especially interested in how Hauser's front yard will be redeveloped. I could not find detail plans or designs specified or even referenced in the doc. Maybe someone else can point us to them. I was going to say, 'if the plans exist at this time', but I saw in the doc that the work is to be finished this suymmer (NOW), so obviously there must be a detail design at this time on how they are going to redevelop Hauser's front.

from the minutes of the march board meeting

the Village of Riverside is aware that the hardscape/landscape project at Hauser stops
behind the Village set-back line. Discussion transpired regarding how the “gap area”
between where the Hauser property line ends and the Village property line begins will
be addressed. Supt. Lamberson commented that the Village of Riverside will allow the
District to fill-in the gap area with grass and hardscape in a manner that is aesthetically
pleasing provided that Village standard aggregate material is used. Mr. English noted
that filling in the gap area will be handled via field change order at additional cost
because this element is not addressed in the existing project plans.

So is that mature that was to be destroyed with much hue and cry in a previous plan going to be saved or not? Some background here.

also a big discussion here . also see page 1 of this thread.
