I don't think this dog will hunt this year. Maybe after the 2009 elections. Could just be me.

    Spatny -

You always mention the Rec Department salaries. What makes you think they are too high?

It is supply and demand for good Recreation Department managers and employees just like it is for any other occupation. Given the limited resources, facilities and spaces in Riverside in which to build facilities we have a solid recreation program. We will lose people who created these programs if they are not compensated in a manner which keeps them in Riverside.

Is there something the Rec Dept is not offering that you want?

I see no mention here of rec salaries. But tax subsidies for such things does not say fiscal emergency to me, I am sorry to have to say. I think it right to pay for my own yoga and tennis lessons if I feel the need or desire.

And that is the Recreation and Parks Dept., not the Rec Dept., although the abbreviation is correct as what they do for the parks is not readily apparent to me.
