Around 3:00 today I saw the closed sign hanging in Buddy Dogs today and thought it was odd they were closed so early, but then I noticed it looked like all the tables in the front were gone too. Does anyone know if they have moved on or if they're maybe cleaning the floors or something?

I don't know, so I shouldn't comment, last week I saw a "closed" sign and thought it was odd, too, that they would be closed so early. I thought the same, that they may be "closed" closed and truly hope that it's not the case.

Buddydogs hasn't been open for 2-3 weeks. The chamber has had no offical word but if they aren't open tonight, for the walk, I'd guess they are closed for good.

Although we didn't go there very often, I know a number of times over the last year or so we would 'try' to go there at 6:20 or so and they would be closed - even though the hours posted said there were open until 7:00....Jem would always be our fallback, so much so that we started going there first instead.

It's too bad. It was a nice place.

I recall when they shortened their hours, closing at something like 4:30, but then it seemed they were closing even before that, contrary to the posted hours. I figured they were just capturing the after-school crowd then closing.

Taking a closer look today (from the south side of the street) it appears they pretty much cleared their stuff out. Tables, TV, cooler, etc.

    from the landmark link above...

Asked what prompted the closure of the business, DeMauro said that "it just wasn't the right location. That was the bottom line."

As any resident of over a few yrs can attest, there has been many a hot dog stand in that spot. One can probably further confirm that this place seemed to get pretty busy with neighborhood kids (sometimes with their parents) after school or after a game wanting a quick hot bite to eat. But apparently there have not been enough people, hot dogs, and enough quick bites sold to pay the rent and make a living.

And maybe taxes for small businesses are too high, too, as well as the rent.

What a shame. The kids need a place to go.
