The agenda for this meeting September 11 stated the LAC is seeking input. I gave mine. I have the opinion this is a good place to seek common ground, as neither of the traditional sides of the issue is leaving town. I am pleased that they find Milennium Park to be an inspiration.

Trustee Sells made a cogent and open-handed presentation that he wants to seek accommodation between those that are Pro-development and those who value preservation, stating they need not be mutually exclusive. Ms Beaumont raised valid poits that it is hard to work on landsacpe plans when the hardscape plan - which is funded by the grant - is so ill defined and contentious. She advocated getting a landscape plan together for the park and having a special meetimng to solidify a proposal that they could send to the Board before this thing is cast in concrete, or pavers, or whatever. Good idea. LAC is a very thoughtful committee that takes its responsibility seriously and wants to do the right thing, regardless of the pressures put upon them. In other words, the opposite of EDC and Planning.

No, if we removed the threat of eminent domain, had good architects and materials, and did not bend over unduly to developers, there need not be a conflict. (I doubt there would be much building going on in the current market.)
I will clarify that you are speaking of the IDOT grant for Centennial.
I agree that the post-TIF era is a good time to seek common ground.
