The other item that is floating around district 96 land that just came to my attention is that it looks like the administration is not going to renew the anti drug Pride and Smart Club programs, run by Mr B. These programs have been going on for a long time and seemed to be successful by my observations. Further, the report I heard said that some high schoolers who were former members of these organizations, and who were opposed to their demise, apparently put flyers somewhere in and around the grounds of hauser expressing opposition to their termination. Then, incredibly to me at least, the report continued, Dr Lamberson said he would call the cops on these high schoolers for criminal trespass!

Yeah, you got to protect your turf, but when kids, anyone, in fact, want to exercise their freedom thru flyers, the Tom Paine in me gets all excited and protective of that dynamic.

Mike - I went there after the Board meeting, and I think I heard him say that both those programs would be continued. But perhaps someone who heard the whole thing knows better. When listening to Lamberson I have a hard time discerning what he means. I know one thing, he still - after several years of asking - hasn't put out enough trash receptavles or put covers on the couple of cans he does have out there. I probably pick up at least a grocery bag frull of junk from the school and peripheral areas every week day, because there are no convenient places for the kids (and adults) to put it. I pick it up because I don't want to see it blowing around - maybe I should take it in and put it on his desk and he'd follow through. With no covers on those cans the rain and snow mixes with the waste and trash in them and really creates a health hazard. I sent the guy web links where he could order covers, the swing lid kind, but nothing. There is a blue one outside every door at RB and the trash and wrappers, bottles, cans and the like goes in there. The parents ought to demand the school board require the schools - Hauser and Central - provide trash containers with covers and instruct the kids where to put the stuff. Let's see if anybody picks up on this... I can't seem to get it done. With the previous Sup it just took one call and things happened the next day.
