From the Landmark Train station coffee shop, catering biz gets on track
Since last December, the concept for the business has changed quite a bit. While Soul Amici Express will operate as a commuter coffee shop in the mornings and will serve sandwiches for lunch, it will also include a catering business and offer take-out dinner packages for commuters heading home to their families.
One concept the owners of Soul Amici have (stated at a recent Chamber of Commerce meeting) is that a commuter can have an account number with them and have a predetermined morning time with the order ready and waiting for the member as they arrive for their train . A phone call from work with an arrival time at the station will have a take home dinner waiting for you as you step off the train. Neat idea I think.
I like the name of this new business, Soul Amici. It is in keeping with some of the other one-of-a-kind Riverside establishments, Grumpys, Chew Chew Cafe, Jem cafe, formerly the place of the The Blue Parrot (RIP)
Sounds like a plan that will work here, now that the high-end appliances and commercial ranges have lost their lustre. And they will sure be better off in the train station than over at the VC where the rent would eat them alive. Hope they do well.
