Pres. Wiaduck Wants YOU to Join Budget Committee

    See the village website. It says they want CCR members (us) to participate. I hope that some members who are not pro-TIF will also seek to join that committee. I would, but I do not believe I am qualified to make a contribution at that level.

    You have common sense, and that is definitely what they need. Go ahead and do it. Notice that the design part of the workshops is all to be based on the TOD study, which is seriously flawed in its zeal to pack the downtown with that 100,000 to 170,000 sq. ft. of NEW commercial/retail space.

    Catherine - are you refering to the long-term budget process mentioned in the Landmark? I did not see that on the Village website, but I think your participation would be valuable.

    I did see the CBD planning effort post that I believe Mr. Spatny is referring to. Mr. up-front involvement would be beneficial to everyone.

    No, it is on the Village website, at least it was yesterday. Perhaps I scared them off. No, my recollection is that Wiaduck said he wanted a good cross section but then said they are looking for blue ribbon panels, etc., people with "background." There seems to be no realization that urban planners have created some of the biggest disasters, that designers are frequently cursed with the most fantastic bad taste, etc., i.e. that "professionals" are as frequently the problem as they are the solution.

    Gee, you're right. Apparently the Village Pres no longer wants YOU to join the Budget Committee and it appears the invitation has been withdrawn, or perhaps it was deemed undesirable to broadcast it on the village website. The one time I don't post a link. I think it was on the front page. Well, how interesting. I will write and inquire of the trustees/village manager.

    Anyway, you can see the announcement on the website home of this site, with a link to Wiaduck's email address.
