Sadly, no one can do that. Too much land has been paved north and west of here. Nevertheless that was a good effort to help a situation that is, like the economy, beyond our control. It should help the water to flow past that area. They got on that and stayed on it until the stuff was cleared away, with Public Woks help. I applaud their efforts.

Side effect: The beavers were very appreciative of the nice small trees that were planted on the west bank. They found them very tasty and promised to use them in their own remodeling further downstream. A win-win situation.

Doesn't the river look higher in person than it's shown here online?

The RCA has not kept one of their promises. Their BS platform is a joke. Where is the over spending? Where is the top to bottom audit? Where are the new businesses in town? All they can do is screw us up and put the village in a deeper money pit. They fired a perfectly good village manager only to hire someone else at the same salary. Big deal they did not use a recruiting firm thats because they have all day to work on it since they have no jobs. The RCA is the start of the end of Riverside. Oh and by the way to be a RCA member you need a bad piece of facial hair. Nice beard.

I seem to remember there being numerous other cleanups in the past - are they not scheduled regularly by the MSD or MWRD or ACE or somebody? Whatever happened to the notching of the dam, anyway? That was going to be the end all solution for our problems, if I recall.

A big thanks goes out to the RCA anyway for getting all this cleaned up - although I didn't see any of them with waders on pulling branches out, maybe I was late. Have previous admins just ignored the Riverside Flood Prevention people - or is this a new group?

I've never heard of the Riverside Flood Prevention group, did they form after the big flood? Sounds interesting, I'd like to know more....

    City announces 20 layoffs
By Naperville Sun editors on January 8, 2009 6:32 PM

In an attempt to help close the $11 million budget deficit, the city of Naperville laid off 20 employees and eliminated 23 vacant positions Thursday. The city would not reveal specifically what positions were eliminated, but did say that the police and fire department were included in the cuts.

The city said the cuts would comprise 5 percent of its workforce and would save $3 million for the year.
