Some things never change. Someone brings up a topic that makes the RCA supporters uncomfortable, and the response is to put up a video clip or a post on an unrelated topic.

Maybe someone who was invited to this RCA function (sorry mrt) has some useful information to add....

mrt posted a video about "I smell a rat", which is related to the previous reply. You get a lot of that stream of consciousness stuff here.

    This however is completely unrelated:

    .

you get the segue-way related to JohnM's post quickly in the above clip, but the original time Reagan said this was in the 1980 debate with Carter, and I just noticed that the subject then, 30 yrs ago, was, surprise, ...nat'l health insurance. So curiously there is more to the link here than a natural segue from JohnM's post.

Somtimes showing can be as revealing as telling. When I read that post about 'smelling a rat', I immediately thought of The Departed scene. Nicholson's over the top rendering in that scene reminded me of that post's attitude or manner, and I started writing this; then I simply copied the scene here and let the reader / viewer(!) make the connection.

Gosh isn't youtube cool? In an instant one can find and add that fun scene and a bit of the 1980 debate!

I'm still curious though. Was this an RCA campaign event? If so, nothing wrong with it, although I do find it interesting that these guys are so threatened by different views that they feel the need to start laying the groundwork to oust Sells and Sussman already.

However, if there was a majority of a quorum (3 Board members) present at an event where Village business was discussed, the RCA seems to be setting themselves up for problems.

Again, I'm basing my question on the comment in the Landmark. Too bad nobody who posts here attended and can fill us in. Still, I guess RCA political business is RCA political business--wouldn't want to see any of their supporters breaking the code of silence.

JohnM - I wanted to provide you a copy of the email invitation that was sent out by the Riverside Flood Prevention Group to its members concerning the open house. I was hoping it would answer some of the questions you had but unfortunately I think it will only just add to the intrigue:

-----Original Message----- From: Riverside Flood Prevention <mail@riversidefloodprevention.org> To: mail@riversidefloodprevention.org Sent: Wed, 6 Jan 2010 18:32:11 -0600 Subject: Riverside Social Event -this Friday evening 7PM Neighbors, Riverside President Mike Gorman and trustees have extended an invitation to our group to join them for a social event this Friday evening to celebrate their first year of service and to get better acquainted with Riverside residents. Location: Mike Gorman residence, 195 Maplewood Ave., Riverside Friday, January 8th, 2010 7pm-8:30pm Hope to see you there. ---- Riverside Residents for Flood Prevention http://www.riversidefloodprevention.org mail@riversidefloodprevention.org =

Was this an official Village meeting or just a RCA rally? If a rally, I wonder if the RFPG members knew of this in advance? Since the event was held at President Gorman's house and since it appears that he extended the invitation, maybe he could enlighten us by sharing the purpose of the meeting. Seems like a reasonable request of somebody who ran on an "open and transparent government" platform. How about it President Gorman?

Also, it says Riverside President Mike Gorman and trustees have extended an invitation ....did the other 3 trustees know about it?

That's interesting. I also wonder if this was an offical meeting or an RCA rally. The fact that it was extended to a local advocacy group by the president on behalf of the trustees certainly suggests it was an official event at which Village business was discussed. Otherwise, why wouldn't the invite say "the RCA trustees" or something similar?

Maybe someone will ask at the Village Board meeting tomorrow?

The Board of Trustees of the Village of Riverside will hold their Regular Meeting on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 in Room 4 of the Township Hall, 27 Riverside Road. The public is encouraged to attend.

I would like to hear the facts since we're all just armchair quarterbacking here.
