RCA Makes No Cuts, Spends Reserves Instead

I agree with you that it will or should be the mantra of all candidates. I had heard though that the RCA received help from Democratic Party campaign strategists. Perhaps this is one of their current themes and it was adopted by the RCA without any specific anticipation that there were inefficiencies or that waste would actually be found.

A small local entity that can't print money and can't raise taxes without a referenda has less of an opportunity for waste than other taxing bodies - especially when it had already identified that it had a structural deficit.

This reminds me of the old joke where the teacher asks the class, "What is worse, apathy or ignorance? She calls on a kid in the back of the room who looks half asleep and he answers, "I don't know and I don't care."

    This thread is scary.

why aren't more people interested in it? we should be shouting from the rooftops to stop the corruption, stop the unions. we can't pay for them anymore.

i understand that at one time unions were necessary, but they have gotten out of hand. Isn't daley calling for 45 day furloughs (unpaid vacation days) for all NON-UNION employees? what about the union guys. it should be across the board. the unions are a big part of why we are in the position we're in. what did mr or spatny say? 80% of the budget goes to pensions. that's ridiculous.

I had an Econ professor in the mid 1970's (and he was in his late 60's) who had struggled through the Depression as a laborer. He was at the forefront of unionization and fought for every right. In the 60's he realized what was happening and became an early crusader against unions.

His mantra to every class was, 'Sorry for the language ladies, but the unions have this country by the balls...'. Oh how right he was.

It amazes me how the Japanese car companies came here and opened factories with non union labor and are kicking our GM/FORD butts - as they sent all the work to Canada and Mexico. Yet the unions cry 'Buy American'?

Are village employees union members? I heard that at one point they were going to join S.E.I.U. I certainly hope that doesn't happen now, with this new board, with the Democrat stategist on it. With the village president's wife a member of the teachers union.

    Be aware. Be very aware.
