FYI - For those who do not subscribe to the riverside newsflash....

personal comment: the bike path is a way to increase Riverside's profile, for more people to 'discover Riverside'. It is indeed a small way, but this smallness is proportional to Riverside's smallness. Bikes and Riverside go well together. It might be enough to help out some cbd businesses. Plus, bikes are easier to park. :)

The bike route does not come through Riverside except along First Ave. They wanted to link the Portage monumnet with the Salt Creek Trail by painting a line and doing some signage that would have brought the trail over the Swinging Bridge, through town, across the tracks and up Woodside to 31st, then west. The Village Board voted not to have it, so a great deal of construction and tree cutting waas required to run it across Ogden and up the north side to First Ave, then north to RB and presumeably to 31st. WE can put up signs for "No Smoking" but not have the bike trail - another idiotic decision.
