Steven Campbell is, I believe, a developer who has done some work in Brookfield. His wife, Linda, was a very nice lady and on the LAC. She went to the hospital and died there - very suddenly - about two years ago, I think. I helped her get a car started once and she was always very nice to everybody and well liked. The trees that are planted with those funds will be a fine living memorial to her.
This evening I was over in North Riverside at the commons that they developed there after Melody Mill and the driving range were removed. They really did a wonderfuljob there with the landscaping, the ponds and gazebo and all the rest. They planted some really nice trees including wilows that have grown wonderfully - no doubt watered and fertilized. We should really plant some willows along the river in the Swan Pond - they grow quickly and do well all along the river and are great for shielding noise, etc. When we took the boat north along the river we saw many willows that must have grown naturally along the Desplaines. Likewise we sa golden birch that are very nice - with the sun shining through their bark as it peels away. There are some on Akenside across from the Hauser playground that grow well - I hope we include these species in the planting that my reunion class raised money for in the Swan Pond.
