The Village of Riverside and the City of Berwyn submitted an application for CMAQ (Congestion Mitigation/Air Quality Improvement) grant funding in January of 2009. The monies, if awarded, could be used for the development and creation of bike route maps, route destination signs and/or bike racks.

As learned from the suburban coordinator of the Active Transportation Alliance at last night's Riverside Sustainability Council meeting and confirmed by Village staff today, the total grant awarded to Riverside and the City of Berwyn totals $32,200 of which Riverside would receive $8,550.

Under the terms of the grant there is an 80/20 split for costs associated with the printing of 2,500 bike route maps and 3 miles of bike route destination signs. Therefore, the Village would be responsible for $1,710 (20% of Riverside’s grant).
