Love the new article in the Landmark!

Both the connection to the Salt Creek trail and the Heritage Route through the business district are great ideas!

While researching for a summer vacation I came across something that might dovetail nicely with this...

Self guided hike around the peninsula where you will find hidden boxes with history and folklore of the area

So change 'hike' to 'bike' and 'peninsula' to 'the National Historic Landmark Village of Riverside'

It would add to the intrigue of the new bike route and give another reason for folks riding the Salt Creek Trail to take what is essentially a detour. As well as further define it as a thing to do for potential tourists coming from downtown.

This adds work and plenty of hurdles on top of something not yet achieved, but there's nothing wrong with a bit of visioning :)

That's a nice idea. Maybe some kind of brochures or info sheets on local history in those realtor "take-one" kinds of things? We could have one on "The Outfit in Riverside" or "Riverside and the Railroads" etc. Collect them all and get a free ice cream cone?

Excellent presentation and well thought out plan!

If anyone missed it, I hope they replay it on Channel 6 (since it was televised).

Should answer any questions or concerns residents may have regarding bike routes.

Now we need to get our plan activated and apply for more funding. For those who missed the presentation, most plans aren't just about mapping a path. Public education is half of the process, and significant funding is available for those who have a plan and want to make it happen in their town.

Well done Thomas and the Sustainability Council!

For those of us who could not make it to the meeting, what can we do to help with the bike plan cause? Is this plan already on the path to being approved, or does it need community support to see it through, etc.?

    Great to hear!

What does it mean to "get our plan activated"?

I may be ignorant to the costs, but it sounds like it (just requires posting a few signs and maybe painting some stripes) would be very low cost compared to most 'initiatives'. Did they say how much funding it will take to make it happen?

Regarding the map kiosks, in other places I've lived we worked the boy scouts to get some structures built. I wonder if RB has woodshop classes? That might be another option.
