"Eminent Domain. Despite recent changes to Illinois laws pertaining to eminent domain, this bill appears to have language which weakens those changes. Why would a video service provider be given eminent domain and condemnation powers? They are private companies, not vital public utilities. This provision is not included in similar legislation adopted in other states. In Riverside, as a National Historic Landmark community as designated by the National Park Service, our public and private lands are maintained meticulously. The threat of the uncontrolled installation of this technology could jeopardize our landmark status."

The phone system for this entire block and the schools runs through a pole behind our building. I recently bought faster DSL from AT&T/ It runs through a wire that is dated 1938! Al the wire pairs for this network - which runs all the way to Deleplaine, are wrapped - and often unwrapped - with a plastic garbage bag that is about six feet from the ground. We have service people out there every few weeks. This is the kind of high class utility service we have in Riverside. When you have a monopoly, s single provider for anything - TV, telephone or political candidates this is what you get. And you have no one to complain to and no one to do waht is necessary to fix what is wrong. "What you have been getting is good enough for you," is the prevailing theory.
