There is no comparison. It's like apples and oranges, Biden and Palin.

    Spatny -

I am relatively new to Riverside (first board election for me)so I am taking time to learn the about the issues so I can make an educated decision on which candidates to select.

Based on reading your previous posts I take it you are more of a Biden fan than a Palin fan so you must feel that the RCA plan is the "Biden" party and the Riverside party is the "Palin."

Both platforms have had a lot of time put in to them and have what seem to me some good ideas.

Why should I choose the RCA candidates over the TRP candidates? Both are made up of attorney's and consultants (Based on all the words about consultants in this town my definition of a consultant is somebody you pay to perform a service because you do not have the experience, expertise or time to do something well and/or efficiently). Both parties candidates have a wide variety of experience and backgrounds.

It looks like it will be an interesting few months.

Wrong. Actually there is only one attorney in the RCA. There are 2 business owners and one businessman. This is what we need, people with business sense. There have been too many lawyers on the board.

RP has 2 attorneys, 1 too many, the man who head the commission that gave birth to the zoning disaster and attendant colossal waste of money, and somebody who does not inspire comment. Lone Ranger Gallegos does not warrant a comment: as he has put a pox on everyone's house I don't know who he intends to work with. Maybe not too bright. Certainly has a narrow focus.

The RP 'platform' appears to have been copied from the RCA and the Olmsted Society, 2 of whose members are in the RCA. They deliberately waited for the filing deadline to be reached in case, I think, they had to co-opt someone else's platform. For this reason, That is why they had plenty of time to think about it. I cannot be sure what it is they actually intend to do.

For these reasons, they all require eyeballing and comparison in debate. I am sick and tired of these campaigns for the Board being run from people's living rooms, most of which the majority of voters are not privy to. The Township Hall is there for a reason. They used to have cotillions in it. Surely we can have some presentations and debates there. You know, TOWN HALL.

Sorry, the reference to "Lone Ranger Gallegos" went right over my head. Don't understand the allusion.

I don't understand the knock on Mr. Gallegos. I admire the fact that he is willing to try and make a difference. I admire all the candidates willingness to undertake the thankless task of being an elected village official in Riverside. Whoever wins will have half the Village complaining. Whether or not you agree with any of the candidates does not lessen the fact they do this for no compensation. Why do they give up countless hours of their time, why do they put up with people calling them names? Why, because they care about Riverside and want to make a difference. My thanks to all the candidates and whoever wins will be making the decisions. Some of the decisions I'll like, some I won't. Some who get elected I'll have voted for and others I would never vote for. I do appreciate their efforts. Perhaps some forethought and common decency is needed before posting.

No, I really don't understand the reference. The blog spot lists the TRP candidates as:

The Riverside Party today (January 20, 2009) filed its slate for the 2009 Riverside Village Board Elections: for Village President, Kevin F. Smith; and for Village Trustees, David Lesniak, Anthony Miezio, and Kelly Navarro.
Just who is this person "Gallegos" and what has he/she done to qualify as a "lone ranger." Does this person come from a law enforcement background? Is this person a social outcast and thus always alone?

Fred, I don't get the reference either. All I know is that he is a young man that is running independently for a trustee position. Good for him, I wish him well. I don't understand the name calling and negativity directed towards him. I don't think he's put a pox on my home nor on anyone else's home.

Well that clears things up. I suppose the point of the post which made the reference is that party lines have been drawn and it is all for RCA or find another "community" web site. Best of luck to all and may the best people win!
