He was to the computer electronics and the Information Age what Augie and Fred Duesenberg were to automobiles - he, and they, are simply another way of saying THE BEST. Was, is now, and always will be.

Agreed. There are few people in life who change the world. He did.

In the link below, I think was the first time I had heard Jobs speak. Since this is a local forum and some, especially the author of this thread, spatny, have gone in front of the Village board as Jobs does here, it resonated with me It is a fascinating look at the guy continuing to claw only a few months before he was to die.

Even tho he is obviously pretty sick, one can also see his plans for a future Apple campus, and the way he thinks (big and going forward in the future). Listen also to the architectural info he presents, both the of building, but more important , of the landscape, too; this forum has always had an interest in architecture, especially, of course, landscape architecture.

One can also pick up his 'regular guy' look, and also his boss look, - obviously this guy was in full command of APple and Apple was his vision. Note also how he cares about details; this caring, detail oriented attitude is built into his products, one reason it is the most valuable company in the world today. Amazing that it was on the brink of bankrupty before he came aboard after a decade away from Apple.

Finally, ya gotta the love the 'gee whiz built the company from his parents' Cupertino garage', about 6 blocks from a cement factory to the great company it is today and then wanting to keep the company at home.

He seemed to have done this without apparently tons of resources, except his persistance, creative vision and knack for finding the right product (or pushing the product; he has said that you have to tell people what they want). I liked his story about talking with Hewlitt and then buying HP's property as it is in a downsizing mode.

Bloomberg did a very interesting special edition of Businessweek on Jobs. He was an original. Not always "nice" or fun to be around, but a guy with a vision who would fight for his opinion. The opposite of wuss...

60 Minutes did a very interesting piece with Walter Isaacson who just wrote a book on Steve Jobs that will be released this week. Very interesting. Try and catch it online... It was followed by a piece on how the iPad is being used to help kids with autism. That results are very impressive - he really did nudge the world in the right direction more than we can gauge at this time.
