Lots of opinions floating around forum about advisory referendum questions (in addition to the one you all helped collect signatures for. THANK YOU!)
Anyway, perhaps the board is listening, why not recommend some.

Shall the Village of Riverside implement incentive-based recycling net municipal FSA-insured bonds to make improvements to the commercial business district?

"On my honor I'll do my best, to help myself and cheat the rest."
"Eat your bread and gravy, join the yiddish navy, fight, fight, fight for Palestine.
"Chicago ain't ready for reform yet."
Everybody knows these and laughs at them. And everybody knows what the referendum is about. "Is this TIF as proposed by the Village Board a good thing for Riverside, or not?" Yes or No. People understand it, and , all semantics aside, the voters that have looked at this issue know what it is about: "Should we give this Board, with its track rcord, a blank check." I bet most who have investigated the issue, done a little independent research, will say, resoundingly, "NO." But of course, as in most elections today, most won't care and most won't vote. Which is a comment, in a way, on the people that live here. Think about it: Olmsted. Vaux. Jenney. Wright. Coonley. Sullivan. Babson. many more. Today, I for one value the labors and endeavors and good intentions of Mike Hullihan and Janice Fisher and Michael Collins and entrepreneurs like Rick over at Riverside Garage, and Joe Gaberik at Riverside Works, and Scott Zimmer at the Chew Chew and Dave Moreau at Grumpys and a lot of others who just haven't been motivated up to now to step forward. It's not too late to take back control and do something really great here. We've been given the basic tools and format, now let's do it.
