I have to laugh that Boston City Hall is in there. So true. A ghastly 70s looking thing like something out of the Soviet Union. Worse, it is surrounded by a bleak, windy plaza that seems to repel people, with an equally ugly Government Center on it. And yes, plopped next to the Old State House, Fanuiel Hall, across the street from the oldest restaurant in the country, other fine 18th Century architecture, and right on the Freedom Trail on your way to the Old North Church and Paul Revere's house. So sad it is almost funny.
Makes me think of another building we know.

Tseretelli is a Georgian, and he probably wanted to skewer Putin with that statue. Where is the Romanian House of the People Nicolaj built for Elena, which is, I think, the largest in the world? She was the perpetual Miss Romania and a self proclaimed scientist. She wanted to be like Hedy Lamar who invented the thing that makes radar and cell phones work in between takes on the set. Honest, google Hedy Lamar and Radar together and see for yourself. "The world's most beautiful woman" was also the brains behind the patent she later donated to the allies for war use. Take that, Paris Hilton.

I assume the people who put together the top 10 list never went to see the #7 pick, the Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein in Vaduz. In my opinion, a spectacularly appropriate, well proportioned, and intelligently detailed building. It's a knock-out, it's that good.

7) Liechtenstein Museum of Fine Arts; Vaduz, Liechtenstein
"Some feel the building's minimalist box design is a triumph, others say it's an eyesore."
