Two sides ofthe same coin?

Things seem to be getting more and more complicated. More and more, the Cold War is looking like "The Good Old Days" when we knew, or thought we knew, who our friends were and who were the bad guys, and where they lived. Now it's not so easy to figure out. Similarly, issues like Climate Change or Economics seem to get hot wired and driven by groups that have other agendas. I read these two articles on the BBC this morning and - as they usually do - they included opposing views without saying who is right.

The first is about a report that says "growth is the problem and what needs to be cut" if we are to avoid ruining the environment. The other side says the study is foolish and flawed and why they think so. Myself, I think it is highly likely that billions more people will create more and more greenhouse gases and pollution, and that it is possible that there is a point beyond which it is imprudent to go. On the other hand... well, you read it and see what you think.

And here are two guys giving opposing views on the economy. Again, interesting stuff, makes me want to find out more...

There's also an article about US Housing Starts falling in December, but again, beauty seems to be in the eye of the beholder, as two quite different conclusions are drawn. Personally I think there will be a pickup in smaller homes because of the extension of the federal tax credit through the spring. Then I predict a further downturn for the balance of 2010. That's not what I'm hoping, just what I think will happen.
