This is really a case of "Be careful what you wish for." How could anyone have the total lack of asthetic sense to slpa that awful looking peach-colored stucco job on the Longcommon building, and then go even further with the simply dreadful, shiny white paint they put over the posts and concrete below the windows? The crappy plywood job they did under the stucco shows every seam, the sheets are bowed and crooked, and the the whole job looks like a traditional Father & Son schlock job. Somewhere, no doubt, that color must have been on sale. But nowhere coud one find such awful gloss paint to slap over the unprepped cast iron posts and the lower concrete work. The result: It makes this rather inocuous building the new focal point of stupidity and bad taste in a town that is becoming a veritible showcase of such garbage. Woe are we who will have to look at this. It even glares at night when car headlights hit it. We must have done something terribly wrong to have God allow this schlock to continue proliferating.

As truly ugly as it is, it is an improvement over what had been there before. The Village of Riverside should enforce codes on all his buildings and lien his property for back water bills. Since Lisa Madigan will be running for Governor soon we should all put her feet to the fire and see how that lawsuit is going.

I don't see any improvement. I see that glaring white paint spread inexprtly over the cast posts and the concrete at gtound level, and I see the edges of each panel of plywood showing behind that bilious color above. I think the old boards were less conspicuous.

Well, I'm sorry he decided not to go with the restoration. No matter what, there will always be this: nothing in that view can look worse than the VC.

TRue, but that awful white paint and crooked plywood infill draws the eye - and doing it right next to the beautifully accomplished renovation of Riverside Plumbing - it's a disgrace.
