As of 11 a.m. today, Com Ed representatives have indicated that they are still assessing damage to the power system in Riverside . An estimated time for restoration is unavailable. They hope that by Sunday evening, their customer service representatives will have info rmation on restoration time (1-800-EDISON1). Residents at this time should plan for an additional 48 hours without power. We certainly recognize the inconvenience this has caused the residents of the community. The Village staff estimates that approximately 50% of the households in Riverside are without power. There are power lines which must be accessed that are presently in three to four feet of water. Com Ed crews cannot reach this line which services those areas in the First Division. Com Ed crews are attempting to determine an alternative power transmission route.
As the system begins to reenergize, residents should be cautioned about the danger of lines that might have been damaged during the main part of the outage. These feeder line disruptions may result in additional service delays and interruptions. Safety is key in the process. If you see lines down, please call ComEd or the Riverside Fire Department or 911.
River Flooding
The Des Plaines River has crested and is not anticipated to generate additional flooding issues. The parking ban has been lifted on Lincoln , Park, Pine and Groveland with the exception of West Avenue . If the situation changes, we will reactivate our emergency operations.
