I would like to thank Eagle Scout Elliot Louthen for taking over the Halloween Windows project. Anyone with kids in grade 1-5 knows what this is all about. Elliot picked the ball up and ran with it and has completed the art day, where the kids painted on paper (as opposed to the windows as in earlier years.) On October 24, the art will be hung in participating local business windows, and on October 30 the Chamber of Commerce is inviting all school kids to visit the participating businesses to find their art work and do a little trick-or-treating after school (the kids will be in costume that Friday afternoon anyway.) I think the artwork will stay up for a week after Halloween.
And I would also like to thank the Girls Scouts, Boy Scouts, Venture Scouts and even the Cub Scouts for pulling off a great Riverfest. Abigail Louthen organized this event with the help of many, many volunteers. The activities were great, the food was great and even the weather was great. It was good to get out among our neighbors and forget about the world for a while.
So, thank you to all the volunteers and especially the Louthen family for putting these events together for the benefit of us all. We had a great weekend.
