FYI - The military receives, for every dollar you just paid in taxes, about 27.4 cents - up from 26.6 in 2009. Health spending came in second with 21.5 cents of every dollar, going toward Medicare, Medicaid, etc. On the other side, with average unemployment running at 9.6% for 2010, spending on unemployment insurance and Social Security increased from 8.5 cents in 2009 to 10.9 cents in 2010.

Education receives 3.5 cents of every tax dollar, environment, energy and science gets 3 cents, and transportation, that's air. rail and road, gets 2.2 cents. These are the facts, and contrary to what many choose to believe, the gov did not spend more on Foreign Aid than Social Security or Medicare. It really gets just 1.2 cents.

In the $38 billion in cuts just enacted, the military gets an additional $5 billion. You should know what the real numbers are and what you pay for on tax day.

Now a question: Who is Doc Watson? Hint: Think the extended vote on Medicare Part D, which costs a bundle. Think Jack Abramoff. And then look at the pending House Resolution that is now before Congress that will make a requested drilling permit valid and approved if it is not turned down within sixty days, and that also requires that after 30 days the name of the person holding it up be supplied to the oil company that is requesting it.

Things are not always simple, but the Tale of Doc Hastings is one well worth looking at.
