By the way, who is doing the gathering of presentation of information on these workshops at village hall? Is this going to be "information" or information? I thought the first workshop was on budget and finances, now it is finances and land use. I am expecting something that at least makes an effort to be objective. And not, say, some propaganda from the EDC.

We need people to listen carefully and then question why this initiative is being brought forth, when the market seems to be providing all the stimulus (and development) we can digest. Particularly, I think we need to question the entire validity of the concept of borrowing and sequestering funds from proven performers (like the schools) for use by entities that have no track record - EDC, the Board, etc. Ponder this: Riverside has, right now, what most communities would die for - peace, tranquility, good schools and a nearly idyllic, bucolic environment. Maybe we need to tighten our belt in the short term instead of take on "development". With the new WalMart superstore coming on First and 47th (the only "Superstore" in the Chicago area) and literally dozens of little in-fill strip malls popping up all around us, why should Riverside try and draw-in transient traffic? Why not let other people provide the shopping and put up the infrastructure and deal with the traffic? Who gets the benefits from this TIF?
