Or will it not be taped at all like the 4/14 meeting on the TIF, or taped but not broadcast live like the 4/16 board meeting. Isn't it strange that those who are bound to be at home are not privy to the proceedings of the board suddenly now that the TIF is under discussion?

I am sure that as many who can will be attending this meeting. I am equally sure that those who must be at home or at work and taping it will like to know whether their will as expressed in the referendum is being respected, or whether it is being overridden by people who owe their seats to less votes than were cast against the TIF.

It, and the TIF, should be dropped cold, and the meeting cancelled. There is no reason to continue this travesty. If they want to do something useful for the Village we can all go out and pick up trash in the parks. They look like they could use the exercise, and it might be good for them to understand how some people do things - without any remuneration or even recognition - for the Village's benefit every day. Maybe it could be a combination exercise and penance we could do all together once a week?

I don't know if they can do this Spatny, since they are not allowed under the Open Meetings Act to discuss the TIF or the TIF referendum vote in private. All such discussions must be done in the public gaze, whether they be meetings, phone calls, emails, etc., so long as a quorum is involved. Even if they qualified for a closed meeting - and I don't see how they do - a verbatim recording would have to be made of it.

Therefore what we will be hearing is the first, live, unvarnished reaction and revision or, perhaps, forming of their views in light of the referendum. And of course, if they ignore the referendum, that will be spontaneous and unrehearsed and done first in front of us.

I wrote to RBHS TV. I thought they were the ones who recorded the meetings. They responded only that Channel 6 was responsible for broadcasting them. Who knows how to get in touch with them so that we can find out if the residents at home will be privy to this live, unrehearsed discussion?

Is it possible to have a verbatim transcript made?

Seeing that there were technical problems with the TV for Saturday am, that would have been the logical thing to pursue on 4-14, the first substantive discussion of the TIF.

The benefit to the village gleaned from such a recording would justify the cost to the village of a verbatim transcript.

THEY have to have a verbatim transcript made of any closed meeting. A verbatim transcript cannot, of course, be made after the fact unless a court reporter was there.

Anyone is free to bring a tape recorder, video camera, etc., to any meeting however and, should they desire to continue under cover of darkness, perhaps we can run it from this site, webmaster willing.

The 4/26 meeting, still, is on the TIF. I still need to know who typically records and broadcasts these meetings and how to contact them, to see whether there is going to be a repeat of what happened on 4/14 and 4/16.

    Does anyone know?

When I asked for a verbatim transcript, I was requesting that a court reporter be used for the 4/23 meeting if there is ANY DOUBT about getting TV coverage.

a court reporter SHOULD HAVE BEEN REQUESTED ON 4-14 if they were truly interested in transparency once it was known that the TV was not available.

    .

Side question: What is the cost of a court reporter and what is the cost of having TV coverage?

Right. Don't know cost, but you will recall there was a court reporter at the large (only) wide open town hall meeting we had about the topic. Maybe it is time to ask KathleenRush what we may expect so that we don't have to carry our videocams and tape recorders into there.

But the fact remains there are homebound parents, seniors and other residents [and here would be a disability accomodation they would require] who need to see a live broadcast of what the trustees are doing with their vote.

Yes, and Mr Smith used the low turnout on 4-14 as a reason for the Board to proceed without community input.

    We're interested, Boss!

Maybe someone missed the room change and left, or a host of other reasons.

Is there some kind of state law that dictates when to use what types of recording methods (tv, court reporter)?
